Did You Know… Zucchini is known as Courgette (French for Zucchini) in Europe.
Zucchini is a very low calorie vegetable, containing no saturated fat or cholesterol
and weighing in at only 17 calories per 100g. Zucchini peel is a good source of
dietary fibre with the added bonus of offering some protection against colon cancer.
The flowers of the zucchini are also edible, eaten either
raw in salads or shredded and baked into bread or muffins.
This particular specimen is a plant I’ve grown from seed, in a pot in the garden.
I’ve found growing veggies in pots, rather than planting straight into the ground,
gives a much better chance of ‘policing’ the predators (slugs, snails ect), lol
