365 Day Photo Project Day 101: Nasturtium Flowers Close Up

Did You Know..? Nasturtium flowers, leaves and seedpods are edible.

Flowers and leaves are most commonly served in salads, adding a light peppery flavor, which is not dissimilar to watercress.

The unripe seedpods of the nasturtium have a much stronger peppery flavor and are sometimes pickled in hot vinegar and served as a condiment, or used in dishes in place of capers.

The leaves of the nasturtium contain vitamin C and iron and the seeds are antiseptic / antibacterial.
