
Came across this enormous spider’s web at the bottom of the garden, scattered with varying size bits of debris.
It was more than a single web, more like a colony of webs, all interlinking to one another, with a complex system of silk strands, with a large fly-trapping ‘sheet’ underneath.
There were no occupants to be seen, so I wasn’t able to identify the spider or spiders responsible. But based on what I’ve seen of the webs and spinning habits of the European garden spider, (the largest garden spider in these parts), I’d hazard a guess that wasn’t the owner.
