
An orange freesia with striking purple anthers, shot indoors with the use of flash.
On inspection, the background of the image wasn’t as dark as I’d hoped, more of an insipid brown, so I cut the freesia from the original image and set it on a plain black background. I further enhanced the sparkles on the petals with a little positive exposure tweak.
As I think has been mentioned here before – I’m not a big editor, but I do like tweaking and it does make a difference.
I love how the lines of the petals draw your eye in and the edges of some petals fade into the blackness. Their lovely scent wafted my way while shooting and I noticed a little patch of spilt pollen at the front of the flower. Freesias really are quite photogenic.
