A Seven spotted ladybird, ladybug or lady beetle (Coccinella septempunctata).

Contrary to popular belief, ladybug’s possess large, blue compound eyes; many people presume the forepart of the ladybird’s body is the bug’s head and those big white markings are it’s eyes – an easy mistake to make on a creature so small.

The fact is, the ladybird’s head occupies only the foremost part of it’s black pronotum, with those considerable blue eyes and short, but useful antennae. When stationary, the ladybug’s head is tucked tightly underneath the pronotum and consequently not always visible.
