A purple petunia (Petunioideae), just starting to open up.

Surrounded by decaying vegetation and dying leaves, a petunia springs a brand new bloom. What the young flower doesn’t realize, is the fact that icy weather conditions and perhaps a fall of snow has been predicted for the next few days. It’s the only flower on the petunia plant – almost all of which has withered and perished.
