365 Day Photo Project Day 586: Raw Congruence [Spider and Web]

The spider’s web; a bona fide accomplishment of natural architecture. Parallel lines intersecting anchoring threads, meticulously and rapidly woven, without any plans to work from, except for a naturally occurring blueprint retained by the spider.

Very young spiders are abandoned before they even leave the protection of the nest; the arachnid mother doesn’t hang around for long enough to demonstrate to her offspring even the most elementary of life skills.

A shard of sunlight finds it’s way past tree limbs to the spider’s lair, anchored from a branch on one side, to a derelict building on the other. Aspects of the web no longer lie in congruent uniformity, having been torn by struggling prey as well as the occasional, unexpected escapee.
