
A fly (diptera), with proboscis all set to let-fly at the first sign of anything appetizing. The fly has alighted on the yellow-coloured flowers of a Darwin’s berberis shrub (Berberis Darwinii), also referred to as a barberry.
Prior to flowering, the bush is covered in bluish purple berries, around autumn time. The barberry is an evergreen, but nonetheless shouldn’t actually be flowering until springtime, however this specific bush blossoms all through the winter months and is loaded with fruits throughout the summertime.
