A Gypsophila flower (Caryophyllaceae family), also referred to as baby’s breath or soap wort. Each individual flower head, with it’s anthers protruding like alien antennae is barely a couple of millimetres in diameter.
Gypsophila is a firm favourite among florists, since the tiny, fragile flowers develop in abundance on branched stems and create an attractive filler effect to floral arrangements.
These plants are frequently located flourishing in chalky soil, or Gypsum, hence the genus title.
