365 Day Photo Project Day 638: The Scent of a Freesia Flower

Ahh… the deliciously powerful aroma of freesias (family Iridaceae) floods the room. Pink, together with red varieties, are considered to produce the strongest perfumes, nevertheless these yellow freesias possess a pretty potent bouquet too.

In contrast to a number of colours amongst freesias, who’s reproductive parts are a clearly defined purple, the yellow freesia’s anthers and stigma are significantly less remarkable, being a similar colour to the flower itself.

Freesias are a representation of friendship and innocence; they are also recognized as the symbolic flower of the seventh wedding anniversary.
